Roadtrip to Cape Matapan - Tainaro

Cape Tainaro, also known as Cape Matapan, is the southernmost tip of continental Europe and is located in the Prefecture of Laconia. The ancient Greeks believed that Cape Tainaro was a gateway to Hades, the realm of the dead. The cape was named after Tainarus, the son of Zeus and founder of the Sanctuary of Tainario Poseidon. On the Cape there is a wonderful stone lighthouse 16 metres high.
